Dimitris Skuras holds a Ph.D. (1990) in Economic Geography from the University of Aberdeen in Scotland, an M.Sc. (1986) in Regional and Rural Resource Planning from the University of Aberdeen, a Postgraduate Diploma (1991) in Statistics and Data Analysis from the University of Essex in England, and a Degree (1985) in Forestry and the Natural Environment from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
He is a faculty member at the Department of Economics at the University of Patras, where he teaches Environmental Economics, Climate Change Economics, and Agricultural Policy. He has been a Full Professor since 2008.
At the University of Patras, he has held several key leadership roles:
Vice Rector for Finance and Development (2020–2022)
Founding Dean of the School of Business Administration (2014–2018)
Chair of the Department of Economics (2003–2005)
Elected member of the University Senate
Board member of the University’s Property Management and Development Company
Member of the “Andreas Mentzelopoulos” scholarship council
Prof. Skuras has more than 30 years of experience in research, teaching, and consulting. He specializes in the design, evaluation, and impact assessment of environmental and sustainability-related economic programs across the European Union. He has led or contributed to projects for the European Union, OECD, United Nations, and numerous governmental organizations internationally.
Since 2020, he has served as an evaluator for the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in the field of climate change. In 2008, he received the Ch. G. Sepentzis Prize from the Academy of Athens for the best scientific study in Economics.
